About Us
Established in 1888, the J.E. Shepard Company started out as a small, broadleaf tobacco farmer with 500 acres in the Connecticut River Valley. In 1955, J.E. Shepard Jr. led the business’s innovative leap into reconstituted tobacco sheet manufacturing with the founding of The NuWay Tobacco Company. To this day, The NuWay Tobacco Company continues to build on our leadership position in reconstituted (homogenized) sheet production.
The NuWay Tobacco Company and the Shepard family are committed to product quality and building lasting relationships with customers, suppliers, employees, and our community—pillars on which the company was founded nearly 70 years ago.
